With a general lean and hungry look, they all flashed placards they couldn’t read. In fact, they appeared like a ragtag team of beggars and all their placards read like something from a storybook.
But the protesters had one static message, directing (or was it authorising) EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) to “proceed” with their former governor’s investigation.
That happened on April 3, 2024 outside the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.
The group comprised mainly hungry-looking youths reportedly from Zamfara state, some forcing a smile while flagging the posters.
One was asked to read what was written on the placard, but he started an explanation and ended it in Hausa language.
However, they claimed former governor Bello Matawalle was the reason they looked gaunt, “directing” the EFCC to to reopen investigations to probe what he did with over N70 billion.
