HOW AMOSUN RAN AWAY IN JAMAICA!

Nigerian sprinter, Toni Amosun, “ran away” at the inaugural Jamaica Athletics Invitational on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

She didn’t wait for other contestants at the event to catch up with her, from the word go, and ended up becoming  the world’s fastest woman in the women’s 100m hurdles.

Amosun “ran away” with a world-leading time of 12.40 seconds in Kingston,  dusting the reigning world champion, Danielle Williams’ 12.46 seconds as well as USA’s Christina Clemens’ 12.54 seconds.

Sports analysts say Amosun’s win was a good omen ahead of the summer’s biggest meetings and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

She’s been in superb form throughout this year, as she opened her campaign with an African record of 12.58s in Doha last month.

Indeed, the sprinter has picked up from where she left off after her gold-winning  world record run of 12.12s at last year’s World Championships in Oregon.

In March, Amusan ran a time of 12.89 seconds  to win the Women’s 100 metres hurdles at the African Games in Ghana.

Amusan is the current world record holder in the 100 metres hurdles with a time of 12.12 seconds, a record  she set at the 2022 women’s 100 metres hurdles semi final in Eugene Oregon.

She is also the current Commonwealth and African champion in the 100m hurdles.
